With a big big drive ahead of us, we set off bright and early, starting our drive along the peaceful rolling hills of the Highlands. Presently we stopped for morning tea/coffee next to the exquisite Durris Forest where I was lured in by all the magical creatures who living there. (Photo on Al's phone, will upload shortly).
On along our way we went, stopping for lunch beside a mansion-like house with gatehouse entrance and old rundown castle in their grounds - not sure who they were, we were somewhere near Banchory and they had a park bench - so; have bench will sit!
Via Stirling to our previous cottage to collect camera card reader.
Arriving at our accommodation in Ayr was pleasant enough, with Beechwood Guest House being our overnighter and a gentle, but cold, walk to the local watering hole. Al says "Bah Humbug" to summer in the UK.
We had walked quite a way when Al stopped to ask a young guy how for the Carlton was, the young guy said he didn't know, then milliseconds later, he said, "did you say Carrrrrlton"? In such a broad accent, we all had to try very hard to swallow our laughter and he pointed us on our way. Lovely evening amongst the locals once again and back home to bed.
