1 March 2012 WINDSOR AND ETON Thursday

If you've ever been pinched and punched for the first of the month before the crack of dawn, please let me know, so I can know that I'm not alone.  Apparently Al had been lying in wait since 3.00am, just waiting for me to move so he could get in before my consciousness could even register the 1st of a new month. Jinkies, way to start a day.  And what a misty day it started out to be, before clearing into a most spectacular Spring day.

Al, Dal and I headed out to Eton to rub shoulders with the posh students of Eton College in their tail coats and cleric collars, looking frightfully distinguished.

We arrived at Windsor Castle just as the mist cleared and made way for the warmth of the first sun-rays. Quite timeously, we surrepticiously joined a tour group to find out some interesting snippets of information, which you can learn about on google!

Lunch was an equally delightfully sunny occasion on the banks of the River Thames with swans adding a dramatic backdrop of austerity.

Coffee at the duckpond back at the hotel in Beaconsfield sealed the deal just perfectly, with dinner later when Kit gets home to end another wonderous day.
