14 October 2011 Friday GRAND CANYON

Our last morning at Sedona Pines was heralded with a tranquil early morning run as 7 hot air balloons floated gracefully down around us.

We set off back on the same treacherous canyon road 7000ft elevation, to Slide Rock, but continued on to the Grand Canyon.  Two quick stops, one on a private road with multiple letter boxes and the other at the Planes of Flame Museum, just to stretch our legs.

Our campsite at the Grand Canyon, Mather, has no electricity, but is very secluded and surrounded with natural habitat - a real grass roots feeling.

Our first glimpse of the Canyon rendered us speechless as we took in the grandeur in front of us.  The word "grand" does little justice to the name "Grand Canyon".  It's depth and splendour are phenomenal. Truly deserving of it's place on the list of 7 Wonders of the World.  A must-see for all of mankind.

Bedtime was 6.30 pm when natures lights went out and darkness descended. Serendipity indeed.
This photo is the mighty Colorado River taken on our way to Kingman near Hoover Dam. I haven't loaded the Grand Canyon photo's yet, but the Colorado River is also visible 1 1/2km down from the edge of The Canyon.
